What is a Life Coach?

By definition, a Life Coach is a wellness professional who helps people make changes to their everyday lives to reach greater progress and fulfillment. They are often individuals who radiate positive energy inside and out and want to inspire others to do the same. Using their extensive knowledge and training, Life Coaches help carve out a path to success using a goal-oriented, action-based processes. 

What does a Life Coach Provide?

Life coaches do not act as an angel on your shoulder or a positive voice within your conscience. They are trained professionals who help individuals navigate their own path to greater fulfillment, progress, and success. The materials or insight they provide can vary from one coach to another, however, they all share a common goal to improve the lives of their clients through action plans that they will actually follow. Life Coaches provide a variety of services including helping you manage your day-to-day tasks, building strong, healthy habits, releasing negative energy in sustainable ways, guiding you through roadblocks you may be facing, shifting your mindset, developing meaning and a powerful vision for your life, and many, many more. 

How to Know if a Life Coach is for You

With all of the previous information in mind, hiring a Life Coach may not be the right fit for everyone, but you may be wondering how to know whether or not it’s right for you. If you have trouble managing your tasks, finding meaning or purpose in life, adopting positive habits, creating goals and taking action towards them, or if you are just experiencing overall negativity with little sense of direction, you may benefit from a life coach.

Beginning your journey with a Life Coach is important, but choosing the right Life Coach for you, is even more essential. Here are some qualities to look for when choosing a Life Coach:

  • They are a trusted professional with extensive credentials
  • They have your best interest in mind and aren’t working solely for profit
  • Their values align with your values
  • They are realistic rather than overly positive

If you’re unsure whether or not you’ve made the right choice or simply don’t know where to start, consider sitting down for a consultation with a few different coaches to see whether or not you are ready to take that step.
